John Burklow is Chief of Staff of the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ (NIH). Mr. Burklow provides strategic counsel to key leaders within the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æand creates and maintains cross-departmental relationships within the Department of Health and Human Services. He serves as liaison with a number of stakeholders, helps monitor and manage information flow for the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æDirector, and takes on cross-cutting special projects. As Chief of Staff, Mr. Burklow also oversees the Immediate Office of the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æDirector, the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æOffice of the Executive Secretariat and the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æOmbudsman’s Office.

Before assuming the position of Chief of Staff, Mr. Burklow served as NIH’s Associate Director for Communications and Public Liaison and Director of the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æOffice of Communications and Public Liaison from 2002–2021. Mr. Burklow has held progressive leadership positions at ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æsince joining the National Cancer Institute in 1986.
